Go to: Loyalty Program > Earn Points > Newsletter Earning Rule
Enable the rule, set the points amount, and Save.
Points are awarded only when Shopify marks a customer as Subscribed.
Consent states:
Subscribed > Points awarded
Not Subscribed / Unsubscribed > Not eligible
Pending > Eligible only after confirmation
