Overview

Help text is optional supplementary information that appears with your option to clarify what customers should select or enter. It helps reduce confusion and ensures customers make informed choices.

Add help text to provide additional context and guidance for customers when selecting options.

To add help text:

  1. Navigate to Option Sets page and open your option set
  2. Click on the option you want to edit
  3. Click on Advanced Settings below the option label
  4. Enter your help text in the Help Text field
  5. Click Save in the contextual bar

Examples:

  • For "Size" option: "Refer to our size guide if you're unsure about your measurements"
  • For "Engraving" option: "Maximum 20 characters. Allow 2-3 business days for engraving"
  • For "Color" option: "Actual colors may vary slightly from what appears on your screen"

Display Options

You can control how help text appears on your storefront in Customization > Storefront Settings:

1. Help Text - Displays as small subtitle-like text directly below the option label

  • Visible by default
  • Always accessible to customers
  • Good for important information

2. Tooltip - Shows an icon (ⓘ) inline with the option label that displays help text on hover

  • Saves space on the product page
  • Interactive - customers hover to view
  • Good for supplementary details

3. Off - Help text is hidden from customers

  • Still saved in your configuration
  • Can be turned back on anytime

Customize Display

Change the help text display style in Storefront Settings to match your design preferences.
