Does Easy Redirects create 302 or 301 redirects?

Modified on Wed, 26 Nov at 2:44 AM

Easy Redirects helps you move pages on your store without losing traffic or SEO.

When you change a page’s URL, Easy Redirects uses Shopify’s built-in tools to create a 301 redirect. This is a permanent redirect, which tells Google and other search engines:

  • “The old URL has moved permanently.”

  • “Show this new URL in search results instead.”

This way, customers who visit the old link are automatically sent to the right page, and your SEO rankings stay safe. On the other hand, 302 Redirect are temporary and it:

  • Tells search engines the page has moved temporarily.

  • Old URL stays in search results, and SEO value usually does not transfer.
