Gift Card Rewards
Overview
Gift Card Rewards let customers redeem loyalty points for Shopify gift cards of a set value. The app generates a unique gift card sent to the customer's email, providing flexible spending power and encouraging future purchases.
Restricted Rewards
- Not visible to customers
- No points cost
- Automatically claimed by other features (e.g., Referrals)
Gift Card Value & Point Cost
- Set value of the gift card (e.g., $5, $10, $25, $50, $100)
- Point cost aligned with points-per-dollar ratio (e.g., 100 points = $1)
- Optional margin factor for profitability (e.g., 125 points = $1)
- Multiple gift card tiers encourage point accumulation and flexible redemption
Customer Eligibility
- All Customers: Visible and claimable by all loyalty members
- Specific Customers: Select individual customers
- Specific Customer Segments: Use Shopify segments (e.g., VIPs, high spenders)
Maximum Usage Limits
Customers cannot claim the same gift card reward again until the previously claimed gift card is fully redeemed (balance = $0). Multiple gift card rewards at different values can be created to allow frequent claims.
Using Gift Cards
- Automatic email delivery with unique code and instructions
- Customers can apply gift cards at checkout
- Partial balance usage across multiple orders
- Multiple gift cards can be combined with other discounts
- Balance can be checked via Shopify checkout, customer account, or support
Refunds and Reversals
- Automatic refunds: Gift card or reward deleted → points returned
- Manual refunds: Customers or merchants can refund unused or partially used gift cards; fully used cards cannot be refunded
- Points refunded proportionally based on remaining balance.
